With Billy Breathes, Phish and producer Steve Lilywhite created a concept album without a concept - a coherent, seamless, beautiful statement of musical craftsmanship. The record doesn't necessarily follow a theme, but rather creates an environment that pervades the entire room with its breathtaking organic soundscape. Fifteen years after its release, the album remains the band's high water mark for artistic achievement in the studio. Nothing that followed matches its vision or execution.
