Voice of an Angel

I had the opportunity to see Phyllis Hyman live on a couple of occasions. A little bit of Nancy Wilson and Dinah Washington and an incredible show. If you are completly new to Phyllis, I'd check out I Don't Want to Lose You. "Old Friend" is gorgeous, but appears you have to download the entire collection to get it.

Gone Too Soon!!!

I remember when I heard about her death, it just shocked me. Phyllis Hyman was one of the most gifted vocalist of our time. To the masterful material produced by Norman Connors to the Philly Soul of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, every tasty song on this collection will just make you shake your head, because like me, you know should could have done more. She is truly missed!!!!

Far Too Short Legacy....

For the first time fan or a long standing devotee of this legendary and tragic singer, this album is the place to start. From my personal favorite of "Somewhere in my Lifetime" to the great remake "Betcha By Golly", it has it all. 28 tremendous gems by one of the greats.

They Say All Music Guide

There have been numerous attempts at summarizing Phyllis Hyman’s career on one disc. Most have been severely flawed, whether it has come down to missing hit singles or poor selection of album cuts. And while Hyman didn’t have that many chart hits (at least when compared to several of her contemporaries), there has always been the need for a double-disc compilation that goes deeper — allowing space for all the major singles and album cuts that deserve more attention. The Legacy of Phyllis Hyman fills that void. Although it might be a little too much for the person who just wants the songs heard on the radio, it’s the next best thing to having all of her studio albums (all of which are spotty in varying degrees). – Andy Kellman
