#15 Album of the Year for 2013

KBRItunes

Underappreciated Seattle band of soul inspired vocals over keyboard led indie rock. Imagine Cold War Kids meets Black Keys meets Sam Cooke. "Window Sill" and their cover of "Lady Luck" are my favorites

Indie Rock and Soul

nathanjr

The short take is Pickwick are like Spoon and the Walkmen with the sounds (but not necessarily the conventions) of Soul music woven in. This indie rock core is what keeps Pickwick from being the next Maroon 5, and hopefully it will continue to do that even if they blow-up into the next big thing. In truth though, you're better off just listening to this music then trying to place it or compare it to something else. Many of these songs were on their more raw EP "Myths", but the new versions of the songs have been reworked to fit in better with the overall feel of this very cohesive album. Go ahead and sample it, if you like what you hear you'll love it even more after listening to the whole album a few times.
