Stirred or Shaken

El Raptor

1st saw "PM" on their PBS special and was totally floored by the band, their leader [piano], their gorgeous leading lady! "Eugene" is great, especially when she tells the origins of the song, although many can relate to it if you're honest with yourself! Get this, or check out "Hold On Little Tomato".

Appealing Shtik

Bashe

Not as original as their later albums, and the female lead singer's French accent is absolutely appalling (lead male singer's Spanish a bit better), but music is upbeat, stylish, and in a class of its own.

Classic!

Kibbit

What a classic! I know in the future, I'd be proud to play this to my kids. Sympathique is a perfect blend of fun, class, jazz, with international dashes to finish. More than just a lounge album, I feel Sympathique transcends musical taste beyond the many genres.

Astonishingly fine music!

I'm amazed that I did not know of this band until recently. Because China Forbes and Thomas Lauderdale are both Harvard graduates cum laude, I would expect a smart and tasteful ensemble. Smart and tasteful are wonderful, mind you, but this is more: this is graceful, stylish, engaging music that sings. This group goes round the world, offering Brazilian, French, Cuban, Japanese, Greek, et al, as though natives of each. And since the make-up of the band is so international, that may be true. All three of their albums are superlative.

Quirky, fun, great production

beberebozo

I came across this album a couple of years ago by accident (visiting friend) and was caught by the originality of the artists and the quality of production. Real diverse mix of styles. Maybe great for cocktail parties? Fondues?

Great!

To me, this is excellent lounge music, similar to Squirrel Nut Zippers. It's great to see this on eMu. This is the most solid of their first three albums, but the others are good too.
