Progably Not

Vinyljeopardy

I've read this band described as prog and I'm just not sure that's the case. Regardless of classifications Portal are an excellent band and Blood Red Tape is an excellent album. Great vocals, great tunes, smart lyrics. I for one wait to hear more from this fine rock band.

IF prog rocks THEN Portal

This Canadian band is exceptional. A guitar filled feast with a bass/precussion section that is full of surprises, and let's not ignore the excellent use of keyboards for atmospherics. Once you are hypnotized by the melodies the lyrics will take you to another level. These guys retained quite a bit from their vocabulary lessons and you'll be intrigued by every song. All these tracks are complex versus catchy (some more than others), so don't expect to sing along after the first listen, but immerse yourself and listen to each aspect of these tracks - exercise your mind - it's worth it! Whether you sample a short or long track (pick one of each to get you started) you'll end up wanting them all. Warning: this is NOT the death metal band of the same name, but two of the albums listed here are. Only Blood Red Tape, Element, and The Vast Expanse Diminishing albums are Portal from Canada.
