Found another classic

MissEx

The track that sold me on this album is "P.Machinery" which got me on the dance floor at the clubs to stare at my docs in 1985. Like some of you, I had the cassette and could never find a CD or MP3 version until now. I love discovering new artists and new sounds but I still find myself feeling nostalgic for the great music that came out of the 80's. Thanks emusic for another rare classic.

Satanic Abba

quarkslot

This is a truly great album. I was out of the UK when their first single, "Dr. Mabuse", was released so it was "Duel" that introduced me to the band. At the time I remember them being described as a 'Satanic Abba' which fits. The remixes album "Wishful Thinking" is truly great, as well.

Jaded Sophisticated Rhythmic Beauty

There were conflicts between the US and Euro releases of this: the US version is much more pop-sounding and drum-filled. Even then, there are wide variations on what was even ON each release. I've tried to get all of them: this eMusic version is about as good as it gets! I'll still listen to this even decades down the road. Darkness, beauty, strength and silky deft jazz -- it's intoxicating. And while I've heard criticisms, I'd not think to listen to this every day anyway -- it's a concept album and a tribute to flawless production and the technology of its time -- yet it LASTS...

Still brilliant after 20 years

The best electronic pop album of the 80's. I have it on cassette but I wanted to upgrade it to MP3. Frozen Faces wasn't on the original album and isn't as good as the other tracks. Jewel and Duel are absolutely amazing. One of the reasons why this album was so good is the production of Trevor Horn. He also produced Frankie Goes To Hollywood, which is another great band from the 80's.

Same here, I freaked when I discovered it on emusic. Yeah I've had the LP since '85 but ripping this off a record can't do this album justice, no way. Yesss!!

I have been driving around with a homemade tape of this album since 1987! I have tried to find it on CD but with no luck. I feel like I just won the lottery. This was one of the best albums of come out of the 80's. I think I will go for a drive and crank it up!

Overwhelmingly Beautiful

Back in the mid 1980's I heard the first track playing on 97.5 FM never was identified when the song went off the air, So doing search for Art Of Noise here on EMusic I then noticed a cross reference to similar artists And I clicked on Propaganda not knowing what I was going to find, Now I personally Do Not Care For Vocals In Music But BOOM! When I heard "A Dream Within A Dream" I recalled this from my early years And I Just Love It to death. Awesome trumpet, guitar solo and keyboard. Thanks A Mill EMusic!

Surely one of the greatest (borderline) mainstream albums of the Eighties, with a lavish production to die for. Truly, truly brilliant.

With guests including David Sylvian, Heaven 17′s Glenn Gregory, and Steve Howe, A Secret Wish is synth-rock with an eye toward orchestrated pop as well as a bit of sampler experimentation in the grand ZTT tradition of Art of Noise. There’s a distinct lack of songwriting on the album, and though the synth-grooves are tight enough to keep it flowing for most of its length, A Secret Wish occasionally falls flat from its own weight. – Keith Farley
