BigSound 2010 Sampler

EMUSIC-0245BC11

Two good songs on this album. Track 2, iFly by Ball Park Music, is my favorite. It's so upbeat and fun, it always makes me smile. I also like track 15, The Soft Cell by Disco Nap. Much slower and chilled than iFly, but still a great song.

some interesting lyrics

Mix of good tunes & noise, as you might expect in a sampler. The idea is, if you find something you like, explore the artist further. Fair enough. Agree about poor mp3 tagging - get artist names at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bigsound-2010-Explicit/dp/B004H2A0PM. Btw, track 18 is no worse than others of its genre.

Mostly Crap

crabmonkey

A couple of tolerable songs. Most of it is just recycled crap that sounds just like other songs. I think it is sad when the most creative song is the one no one seems to like. I don't even like rap and that's the only track I would have paid for.

Pretty damn good

djFLWB

After downloading and listening I dumped 18 in the first round and in the second listening round dumped 14 & 15. The rest were all keepers. (especially #2 caution explicit lyrics but not sentiment) There are some highlights for sure and 7, 16 and 17 really kept it from getting same/same all the way through. (note: it would have been nice to have clean MP3 tags. I suspect it was intended to force you to seek out the bands)

Great sampler!

Whimper

Nevermind the ridiculous last track, over half the songs on here are really quite good. Glad I downloaded the whole thing.

BIGSOUND=Good Stuff!

If this is the type of music you like (indie/alt) you will be very happy with this FREE sampler! IMO- all really good stuff with a few stand-outs. (I won't comment on the last track.)

A nice sample of some (mostly) new Oz bands

dt666

I Fly is a great piece of pop. The Jezabels are one of the best new Australian bands (get another great free download of theirs from the triple J website) and Hungry Kids of Hungary have released the best Australian album of the past few months. A great chance to try these and other good Oz bands for free - I'd be happy to pay full price for nearly all of these tracks.

What's up with the haters?

Trademark1

Obviously some people can't help themselves, they HAVE to ridicule something that's offered up for free. Tastes are subjective of course, but listen to the sample clips and decide for yourself, don't rely on a reviewer who just thinks it's funny to dis something. Personally I liked several of these songs - esp. the Ball Park Music, Jezabels, and Honey Month tracks. The Richard in Your Mind tune has a pretty cool early '60s vibe. Thanks for making this available FOR FREE, QMusic. Well worth downloading.
