Some fun shit to listen to!!!
On this record R.L. shows us just what make him the king of driving, gritty, drinking blues way into his older years. The whole album is great and even the tracks where he's accompanied by the Blue Explosion are good. For a taste, listen to "Criminal Inside of Me".
RL and Blues Explosion?!? You know it's gonna be great!
One of my favorite albums of all times. If you're a fan of the Black Keys, your head is going to explode when you hear RL Burnside. Also check out Mr. Wizard.
Like others have said - this is opposite-spectrum blues. Raw, edgy & atypical. Genre-bending crossover album is a must in any blues / rock / roots guitar collection. Refreshing & colorful R.L guit/vocal language with Jon Spencer's trademark experimentation - five stars.
Raw, angry, fun. RL is like John Lee Hooker with a bad temper. If you like your blues dirty and mean don't miss this album. A must have.
this is my favorite R.L. CD. Get it & you'll be back for more.
This was already an anchor of my music collection before I joined. I think R.L. and Jon Spencer really defined the hardcore end of the Blues spectrum with this album. It's pure blues, but just insanely edgy and raw (yes, I realize that I am using two overused adjectives in music reviews, but they apply). If you like your music like your women, mean and rough, then this should be your new little bootie call.
