Anytime a Grammy winner says they love an album, it tends to make people perk up. So when Norah Jones says that she loves Rachel Loshak’s album, Mint, it’s probably worth the time of most fans of Jones to check this out. Loshak combines a myriad of styles including piano-driven pop, reggae, and some detailed guitar playing to make for a nice collection of music for the fan of pop music. Primarily, she delves into her soft, gentle songs with pleasant vocals that contain a hint of melancholy à la Sarah McLachlan, while the music changes up enough throughout the course of the 11 songs to make this an intelligent album, as well as making Jones look pretty smart for including Rachel Loshak among her entourage of musicians. – Kurt Morris
