Railroad Earth, Railroad Earth
2010 | Label: One Haven Music / The Orchard

Railroad Earth might be known as a jam band, but they don't sound like what one would typically classify as such. On their self-titled fifth release, the New Jersey-based group incorporates banjos, strings and smooth harmonies, for a set that's at times freewheeling and restrained, combining elements of rock, bluegrass and folk.

Railroad Earth does it again

czarinakem

This is definitely a different sound to Railroad Earth - but they have changed since Amen Corner's release. One thing that has not changed is the solid performances. Each member of the band is amazing on their own, collectively they continue to grow and generate new performances. While this CD is definitely different, I am loving the harmonies. Having seen them play 5 times since the cd release, the audiences are loving the new music and the band is delivering solid live performances. Get the cd, go see them live, and tell us what you think.

Who's the band.

ToasKokopelli

Fans of Railroad Earth might be asking this question after listening to this CD of country/rock with electric guitars, electric bass and a pumped up drum set. The string band they were is all but gone. While I might get into this if the name "Railroad Earth" wasn't on it, my exceptions for this band is way higher than the contents of the CD even with some good songs and good performances. (Download Jupiter regardless, it's a classic track.)

Released 2010, not 2008

It's the new album, not 2 and a half years old.
