Sometimes breakthrough albums capture attention because they are sonically arresting — big, blaring albums with huge crescendos and canyon-sized choruses. Big Inner, the debut from Matthew E. White, went in exactly the opposite direction. Its title is an indication of its content: exploring the vast reaches of a small, interior space.
