If you've heard the dusted-up glitch-hop of Los Angeles'Flying Lotus, you know what you're in store for with Ras G's Brotha From Anotha Planet. The album is the first release on Lotus'Brainfeeder imprint, and his sonic fingerprints are all over the sound here: deeply embedded samples, warm but syncopated percussion, various electronic bleeps and hijinxery. Ras is his own beatmaker, though — the skittering outer space jam “Shinelight” is the standout, with truly head spinning programming.
