Gary Davis AND Sister Rosetta Tharpe!!!

Dr.Blues

Tracks 9-20 on this collections are by the amazing Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who was not only a great Gospel singer, but also a fine guitarist and snag the Blues too!!! I don't think I need to say much about the good Reverend Gary Davis, he is quite simply one of the greatest Blues/Ragtime guitarists that ever lived, and we are fortunate that so many recordings of his playing are now available.

Great, great influential guitarist

hgewirtz

Rev. Gary Davis is one of those players who you can immediately identify after just a few bars, and that's a very good thing. He plays full, rich, vibrant, and wonderfully melodic folk/blues guitar and was a huge influence on a generation of singer/songwriter/guitarists like Jorma Kaukonen, the brilliant guitarist for the Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna. These recordings have probably the best fidelity I've heard for Rev. Gary Davis recordings.
