Superior Mekons side project
Very nice album, weird yet accessible alt-country. It's more consistent than a lot of Langford's non-Mekon efforts, and a lot less depressive than most of the Richard Buckner I have heard.

The connection between these two is powerful. This is a damn fine LP, fun and full of feeling. I only wish it were longer.
When I heard about this release (which was recorded in 2002, with Buckner and Langford playing all the instruments), I figured it would be a series of ragged acoustic guitar duets, and I would have been happy with that. But the record is surprisingly polished, and it rocks (especially the first track, which ends with a great electric guitar solo). "Sweet Anybody" and "Stayed" would not be out of place on Buckner's records, but the other tracks are somehow more earthy and less artsy. The songwriting is top notch, especially Langford's self-deprecating "Nothing to Show" and Buckner's "Do You Wanna Go Somewhere".
