Richard Thompson, Dream Attic
Label: Shout! Factory

Richard Thompson's never gone in for much in the way of studio frippery, so it's surprising that it's taken him four decades to release an album like Dream Attic, whose songs were captured on a brief west coast tour in early 2010. Recorded with his seasoned touring band, including ace sideman Pete Zorn and session pros Joel Zifkin, Michael Jerome and Taras Prodaniuk, the album's 13 tracks harness the energy of Thompson's phenomenal live shows… read more »

Superb

On his most recent tour, RT performs Dream Attic (in its entirety) as the the first half of the performance. It is amazing to me that the live performance I saw is virtually identical to the CD. Both live and recorded versions were energetic and expressive but tight and intensely professional. My impression is that RT is not only a virtuoso, but a perfectionist in all aspects of his performances. PS: This CD was recorded at the first concerts of the tour in the Northwest. Lyrics are available on RT's Beeswing site.

When oh when ...

SavagePopster

When are people going to figure out that the artist is not determining whether a recording is sold in whatever country. (And neither is eMusic.) It's usually a distribution issue involving rights--music business decisions not artist choices. Jeez, buy some perspective before you post drivel where reviews are supposed to be.

Only RT

Music, lyrics and guitar solo as only Richard Thompson can do it. Clearly the most singular artist performing today. Another album of amazing depth, variety and flat out brilliance. Music just doesn't get any better than this, unless it is a live performance, and they are not to be missed.

What is he thinking of?

Ole'rustyrocks

How arrogant does a British musician get to when he sells his albums on a site which doesn't allow fans in the UK to download. sorry Richard, you're a sell out!
