Rita Coolidge has a long history in US music, starting out as a session vocalists for... almost everyone you've heard of who recorded major albums in the late 60s and 70s. That'd be because she's an incredible vocalist. Her biggest album was 1977's Anytime...Anywhere. eMusic hasn't acquired her best music yet, but these are worth sampling if you enjoy music that highlights a talented female vocalist's vocal abilities.

Whitney Houston Lite

If you love Whitney Houston songs played on slo-mo, you'll tolerate Rita Coolidge. She sounds like she can sing, but this material isn't showcasing it. Everything I listened to was the kind of slow-moving lounge song you heard on New York City AM radio in the 1980s. It might make a fine background music for a dinner party, but unless you really like this genre, I wouldn't go for it.
