Love Rod's songs

Fairhaired

The songs were great, and the price was fair. Saved me time from shopping for the CD.

Not a bad deal...

...even with the inclusion of "Love Touch." Ugh. What the HELL were you thinking, Rod?

Basic Math

This is a great deal, still. I did the math. With the e-music basic annual plan, each download is $.35. Multiple by 24 and you have $8.40 for the album. So Walmart is $11.98? I have saved $3.58. Yes, a great deal. That does not take into account the 124 free downloads I received when I switched to the basic annual plan. Thanks, e-music!

It is still a deal

There is some classic stuff on this album. This is a really good overview of the "hits" although some good ones have also been left off. And come on people, 31 tracks for 24 credits is still a good deal. If a store has a sale and you show up the day after the sale ends, how is that the store's problem? You know that if a price is too good to last, then it won't, so you have to move fast when sales appear if you want to get in on it.

Thanks For The Comments

I thought I was going nuts I saw this album and the Sessions one for 12 credits each. I went back to select one and both were jacked up. Strike two for E Music one more and I'm done.

So___ Some people got this for 12 credits and now the rest of us have to pay 24! What a rip!!!

Like the earlier stuff

Unfortunately, they don't have Rod Stewart's earlier albums yet. The "album only" requirement of the songs that I want is a deal killer for me. However, if you like Rod Stewart from the early days to the "disco" days of the 80's & early 90's, this would be a great collection to have.

Good Luck With Your Family Band

By Dan Zanes, eMusic Contributor

it's no secret that starting a band is a pretty good idea. i recommend a family band if you have a family around but maybe you don't, so all right, why not round up a few people in your neighborhood. if you play instruments that's great but if not, you can just sing. it's still a band. the crucial ingredient is spirit and a willingness to try something new with other people. the only other thing you'll… more »

They Say All Music Guide

“Definitive” may be a touch too strong of a word for this double-disc 2008 set, as it doesn’t quite cover all aspects of Rod Stewart’s career in its 31 tracks. Opening with the star-making “Maggie May,” it bypasses any ’60s work (including his time fronting the Jeff Beck Group), skimps on the Faces, enters the ’80s by the end of disc one, spends a good chunk of disc two in the latter part of that decade, and then stops around 1993′s Unplugged, thereby not including such pretty strong latter-day Warner albums as When We Were the New Boys and also his crooner comeback with the Great American Songbook albums in the new millennium. Given the size of the set, such shorthand is inevitable, and while there are some dodgy inclusions and questionable omissions — sure, “Gasoline Alley” should be here and “Love Touch” sounds sillier with each passing year — this is nevertheless a very good hit-heavy overview of Rod’s prime years as a pop star, containing every one of his big hits. It’s enough to make it worthwhile for most casual fans even if it’s not quite enough to make it “definitive.” – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
