Wondering Sound

Rose Royce, Car Wash (RE-RECORDING)
2007 | Label: Goldenlane / The Orchard

Some or all of the tracks on this album are re-recordings of the original versions, and not necessarily with the original artist. Of course, original recordings are original recordings, with their own unreproduceable charms. If that's what you're looking for, you won't find it here.

I never did like Car Wash ...

Phred-Phlintstone-01

Car Wash sounds like Tina Turner filtered through Shirley Temple. But the instruments and rhythm are surprisingly accurate. But I never did like Car Wash anyway (too disco-ey). What spent my three credits on was to hear "I Want to Get Next To You", and it did not disappoint. If it is indeed fake, it sure fooled me. Shirley Temple is clearly not the lead singer on this one. In the last track, one I never heard of, we are in Shirley Temple territory again. The middle track alone is enough for me to give it three stars.

You got to believe in somethin...

Jacked Up Jazz

The All Music Guide review of Car Wash, the album is accurate. This is NOT the original album. This may be an adequate substitute for traipsing down memory lane if you don't have the original, but if you are a real fan (or plan to become one) you need the real thang.
