I think it's legit

I have fond meomories of Rose Royce and these songs. They didn't sound right to me at first either. Then I compared them song for song to the same album on ITunes. The sound was not as robust, but the songs were exavtly the same.

Absolute rubbish - Rip off!

Initially thought I was hearing things when I clicked on 'Listen' button: couldn't believe the tinny, pathetic rendition of a classic tune! It's an insult to any lover of music from this era to presume we wouldn't be able to distinguish dross from pure gold! Utter cr@p! Glad this is only a trial subscription - 30mins is enough to convince me this is NOT the product for me, free or not!

lucky i tempered my usual hastiness - was about to hit download, excited & lookin forward to a smooth little mental singalong commute in the morning... glad i read the reviews! i ain't downloading that - not even close!! & who needs the stinkin remixes - no one needs remixes of classics... remixes are for teenagers with short attention spans & bad taste grrr x

Absolutely Shocking

In my excitement, I, too, ignored the warning signs and hit the 'download' button without properly listening. For the 30sec sample, this version of "Love Don't Live Here" sounded promising. So wrong. This recording is wrong on so many counts... First being, 'What is the record company doing, releasing this as a bona fide Rose Royce version? They are insulting their own intelligence, surely. As for the singer drafted in to emulate Gwen Dickey. No amount of money could surely have convinced you to improve on Gwen's vocal. Surely not! So who is it you're trying to insult. Other than yourself. Better disappear off the face of this earth, trust me. As for eMusic passing this nonsense off as a genuine recording... that is categorically not the way to convince a new market that you conduct yourselves with integrity. Big mistake.

tricked me too

just wanna echo above revus: this ain't the same Rose Royce trax from Car Wash era. later re-recordings is my guess. wish i had listened or read these revus before d/l'ing. i do wish emusic would forewarn us when the songs are not original recordings.

They Say All Music Guide

Less than a dozen tracks, but Rose Royce fans will stick this one in their shopping carts even if they already have a meatier CD by the Southern California funk/soul band. Their hit single “Car Wash” shows up three times: the original version, a skitterish “Process House Mix,” and “Car Wash II.” Four mellow favorites, including “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore,” will satisfy fans of their melters; the mid-tempo “Is It Love You’re After,” is a happy sound; and “Do Your Dance” and “If You Feel Like Dancin’” compels you to boogie. – Andrew Hamilton
