STOP-Re-recorded garbage!

FlyTherapy

These are re-recorded songs with Orbison's vocal tracks. Terrible, unholy, and overproduced. Stop! Turn back! Find the originals! e-music, stop the madness and remove this one. Ugh.

"In Dreams" of Roy Orbison

DonnieBoy

This man was unique and true to himself - an epitaph I'd like to be applied to me, now that I think about it! Every cut is a classic and great music that takes me back to the day. I love the fact that I can still get music like this that I wasn't smart enough to collect at the time.

ooops

Should've read the comments. I thoroughly disagree with Warmglass. The sound of these remakes is terrible. Never trade beautiful sixties production for thoughtless eighties re-recordings. What a waste of 12 credits.....

They're all great tunes!

Great collection.

Added to my collection...

... of songs I grew up with. "Only the Lonely" was a favorite of mine.

He's a Legend!

Roy Orbison is a legend. I'm 57 years of age and love today's music, but I'll never get tired of listening to this one-of-a-kind artist. Roy Orbison has a style of his own and each of these songs on this collection is a gem that should be downloaded and listened to over and over again. Class just never fades away!

Interesting Collection

caspertheg0th

This is a re-release of an album created in the late eighties by Roy. It features his hits re-recorded. In my personal opinion it offers great sound that is not typical of the late eighties, nor the original recordings. This is my pick of all the Orbison downloads. Of note is the fact that this album was produced by film director David Lynch after "In Dreams" was used to great effect in "Blue Velvet." Also see Mulholland Drive (the film) for an emotional preformance of "Cryin" in Spanish, also directed by Lynch.

Remakes, but still great

warmglass

Remakes, but done very well, virtually the same arrangements as the originals and Orbison's voice hasn't lost a beat. This is one of the few albums of remakes that stand up to the originals.

36 Songs To Soothe the Pain

By Wondering Sound Staff, Contributor

Whether you're happily married or told Cupid to shove it a long time ago, we can all agree on one thing: to quote the one-and-only Nazareth, "Love hurts/ Love scars/ Love wounds/ And mars." Or something. That's why we went ahead and compiled a list of 36 Songs To Soothe the Pain, from the bloodletting confessionals of Neko Case, Bright Eyes and Sunny Day Real Estate to the melancholic melodies of Sigur Rós, the Shangri-Las… more »

Roy Orbison: A Monument to Greatness

By Lenny Kaye, Contributor

"Mercy," growls Roy Orbison as the snare drum pounds cadence and a figured guitar spins the curvatures of "Oh, Pretty Woman." We know the feeling: walkin 'down the street, confronted with a vision of loveliness that reveals all possibilities in that fabled at-first-sight, if only she'd look our way, and we hers. In the instant eyes meet, Roy Orbison sings. What do I see? He knows the song is as much about the toll exacted,… more »

Flying Saucers Rock & Roll

By Lenny Kaye, Contributor

Of all rock's family tendrils, rockabilly is the one that keeps re-boppin', sporting a revival every decade or so, its coming-of-age kicks allowing each new offspring to roll its own. Guitar-heavy, emphasizing Wild Ones rebellion ("whaddya got?") and sonic dazzle (heavy on the reverb and chest vibrato), it raves and paves garage-punk (The Seeds to Damned), shockabilly (The Cramps and Chadbourne), new-wave (Stray Cats and Dire Straits), waggle-wobble (Jon Spencer and Boss Hog), Nirvana and… more »
