What a great performance. This is even better than the Paavo Berglund recording I've loved for decades. The best news is that this is the first installment of a complete Shostakovich cycle. Let us hope that he does the Tenth next so that we can finally rid ourselves of that excellent but irritating von Karajan recording. Ten stars, fifteen, and please bring the rest of them on quickly!

I've been waiting for this Shostakovich 11 for a while now as it got a rave review in the Sunday Times.But this is not Shostakovich!! It is The Phoenix by Bright Sheng also on Naxos. EMusic please sort asap!
I cannot review the CD as the 4 tracks I downloaded are not the 11th symphony of Shostakovich. What are they?
