I see a bit Van here, but it's 99% Tim Buckley and a very nice imitation at that.

Cover artwork is so nineteen sixties, it could convincingly say Electra. The music has a welcome folk flavor.

Great music, too bad about the lyrics

Walker is one hell of a guitarist, and the band he has backing him here is tight as hell. If only the record were just instrumentals...the lyrics are embarrassingly awful and his singing is so beholden to Van Morrison's late 60's/early 70's era that it sounds like some kind of tribute band. I hope he can find his own voice in future, because I want to hear more from him and his band. There is so much potential here, but far too much nostalgia and looking in the rearview.

nice blend of Nick Drake, John Martyn...

... with roots in Van the Man's mystics! As pointed out below, great spring/summer record. Really enjoying this!

He certainly channels that early 70's-late sixties jazzy folk-rock sound with aplomb (particularly the mid period Tim Buckley sound and Pentangle as sung by Bert and John). And then effortlessly brings it into the 21st century.

CSN & Nick Drake. A very talented Ryley Walker combines these two 70's nostalgic folk and folk rock legends like they've been an essence of a longtime dream come to fruition. A great midday spring/summer session. Enjoy!
