Wonderful sound art/glitch release

stormchasar

I bought this album completely on a whim, after hardly even listening to it first. Wow, was I pleasantly surprised. Alternations of completely abstract beeps and pings with almost danceable IDM-type stuff, this is more accessible than people make it out to be. Definitely recommended as an avant-garde electronic release.

Great album

If you don't like the genre, don't buy it, or reveiw it, or rate it, for that matter. However, if you like avant-garde or minimalistic music, feel free to bash it. I personally like this.

Brilliant

Guts

It IS a broken fax machine... smashed into a zillion aural shards and then reconstructed into sublime, robotic, beautifully empty music. The only thing that would make it perfect if it were fewer, longer tracks. I'm cheap!

i like experimental music a lot but this is rubbish. Sounds like a broken fax machine.

They Say All Music Guide

His first full length since 2002′s Op. and a supplemental piece to 2004′s C4I DVD, Ryoji Ikeda’s Dataplex deals with the idea of data and how it helps to shape our world. Concept framework aside this is also one of the most physically jarring pieces of sonic work in Ikeda’s catalog, utilizing ultra high and low stabs of sound that are abrasive and stunning, especially on a clear sound system. These blips of sound eventually morph into rhythmic patterns that rigid, but funky in a very Kraftwerk fashion. The second in a series of audio and visual presentations, Dataplex is a promising to start to what could be one of the most ambitious projects of the post-glitch movement. – Rob Theakston
