Kaleidoscope Heart
Great album from start to finish! A wonderful edition to my ever growing, ever changing music collection.

Sara B seemed to agonize a bit over this album, if you kept up with her interviews and Twitter feed, but her work has paid off. This is another album full of chunky piano-driven pop with big arrangements, but she's embellished it with some unusual divergences, like an a capella opener where she's overdubbed herself several times over, and what I think might be my favorite track, the quiet guitar-and-harmonica "Basket Case" (this seems to be heavily influenced by her tour with Tony Lucca; she duets with him on his "Rendezvous With The Angels" album). "Gonna Get Over You" has a 1960s Ronnie Spector feel, "Let The Rain" is another uptempo, driving number, and "The Light" sounds like a Sarah McLachlan number. So she wears her influences on her sleeve, but at the same time, she's got the same great range, emotion, and just all-around goodness to deliver this sophomore effort.
