it was nice, clean, good voice, some good instrumentation...wow this will be good...then the songs start....and they don't have enough hooks or something. They are not intolerable, but they are not great. not one song--I demand one great song per album please. I mean, I could have written these songs myself. dat's bad.
Girl can play and sing, no doubt. Thing is? The songwriting is a little bland. If you like fiddle, banjo and a beautiful female voice on the clear, clean side, you'll appreciate the instrumentation and the technique on display here. I've heard more impressive, contemporary takes on bluegrass songwriting, though. IMHO best originals are "Here Nor There," (slow to mid tempo) and "Old Smitty" (uptempo). "Come Around" has some nice passages. The Bob Dylan cover is fitting. Radiohead sounds good on her, but predictable.
