Sonic glitter

Britster

This is an immaculate 80s artifact if there ever was one... The singles, particularly Absolute and Wood Beez are amazingly constructed layers of sugar that blow away the most jaded ear. One reservation: I downloaded a bunch of these tracks to complete the album and noticed the Emusic versions were less pristine that the others I already owned. If any record demands a Remastered version here, it's this one.

Pure pop perfection

mrec68

First heard in 84 my junior year in high school; perfect production, melodies, hooks--same rush I got first time I ever heard it 26 years later. Favorite album of all time without a doubt.

hooks!

photonicElf

let this one sink in for a while--this music has some of the maximum possible hooks allowed anywhere! you could get lost in "perfect way," "lover to fall," "absolute," "wood beez"... heck, just about all of them. the guy was on fire right here.

Worth Checking Out

FitnessPM

You cannot get a feel for how well produced this music is in these clips. This is a great download. I have been hoping they would get it here at emusic and they finally did. Give it a few listens as like many great songs do these will grow on you the more you hear them. I recommend downloading the first 9 tracks and maybe even the last three that are remixes.

Nice, but would've been nicer if...

brownmuse

Track 12 would've been marked as a remix of Wood Beez. Oh well...guess that what I get for being a "singles" guy. I'm still jamming.

They Say All Music Guide

On their second album, Scritti Politti essentially was Green Gartside, who directed drummer Fred Maher, keyboardist David Gamson, and a multitude of studio musicians through a state-of-the-art, immaculately constructed set of catchy synth pop on Cupid & Psyche 85. The results are as impressive as Songs to Remember and produced the hit singles “Perfect Way” and “Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin).” – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
