Promising Instrumental Metal
Having first heard these songs in the wrong order ('Capitulation', first), I immediately thought of older style Katatonia. The 'songs' - compositions? - span a range of metallic styles, but all are satisfying in their different ways, especially 'Development'. The guitars in particular are well produced with a sound that is at times reminiscent of 'Justice' period Metallica, and the keyboards are subtle for the most part. For me, this is an impressive debut (I think?) - and why spoil some good tunes with vocals, unless the vocals are good and add something. Let's face it, indifferent vocalists - of whatever style - are the bane of many otherwise good bands.
