Good album from a good singer-songwriter, with a great voice and a nice, haunting, melodic sound. Her new album "Only As The Day Is Long" is better--better produced, more sophisticated and assured. Unfortunately, only the 2006 debut release is available on eMusic.
This is a great album, beginning to end. A friend from Seattle told me to check it out many months ago, and since then I've played it more times than I can count. Sera sings with a lot of depth and emotion. One might compare her to Neko Case, but Sera's voice is more inviting, less haunting than Neko's. Nice backup harmony on "On Your Side," would be nice to hear more of it on other songs. Really like the lyrics on "Long Highway."
As one works through the album, the initial thrill fades as each song seems a bit like the previous. Give a listen to no more than three then things get stale.
