No buts from me

cleger

I guess everyone has different expectations but I didn't find the lack of direct reference to the original tunes to be a problem. As a matter of fact I would have been supremely pissed if these guys would have just recycled the original tunes. I thought the references to the original melodies were enough in the context of this sort of recording. I haven't checked out this group before this recording so this is my first exposure to these guys and it won't be the last. The vibe is very Dave Holland to me and that's not a bad thing in my book.

Not a Bad Album but

The but is that this is really not a Stevie Wonder driven recording session. I think Stevie's name is used merely to promote the music. The Stevie Wonder Songs are pretty loosely interpreted to the point that the music hardly reflects the orignal structure to the point I don't think listeners could recognize the tunes as Stevies.
