A Masterpiece of Prog/Metal Music
When history judges the best of the prog/metal genre, the experts point to three of four bands who developed and perfected this powerful form of progressive rock. Shadow Gallery, one of the founders of this genre, will also be included in that group. Room V is a second chapter in the story originally forged in their most successful album, Tyranny. It does not disappoint the listener, matching, perhaps even exceeding the raw power of the earlier record. The weakest song on the album, a ballad entitled "comfort me" is a fan favorite for many SG fans. it's weakness is compared to the super human strength of the other songs. While the title track is a powerful prog/metal anthem, it is The Andromeda Strain that clearly stands out as the signature piece for this talented group of men from Allentown, PA. Sadly, this is also the last full SG album for vocalist Mike Baker, who died of a sudden heart attack in 2007. 4.5 stars
