Bulldog Edition is a two-CD set compiling all of Sheer Terror’s output for Blackout! Records, and therefore represents a good portion of this classic New York City hardcore/crossover band’s entire career output. Starting with 1990′s breakout Just Can’t Hate Enough album, disc one sheds light on Sheer Terror’s astoundingly heavy and thrash-infused style, then takes you back to CBGB’s via the previous year’s live 7″ before fast-forwarding once again to take in 1994′s aptly named experimental Old, New, Borrowed & Blue EP. Disc two offers yet another full album in 1992′s self-explanatory Thanks fer Nuthin’, as well as a generous selection of demos and relics, including very rare songs from 1986′s No Grounds for Pity cassette. Yes, staunch-minded completists will have to look elsewhere for 1992′s Ugly and Proud, 1995′s Love Songs for the Unloved, and some of the band’s spotty, cassette-only releases from the 1980s, but for the vast majority of hardcore enthusiasts, not to mention the merely curious listener, these 39 tracks should be all they ever need. – Eduardo Rivadavia
