A gorgeous album
This album of original songs written and performed by Shelley Leong, is gorgeous. The whole cd is lyrical and tuneful, with arrangements subtly matching the range of moods and cultural references to be found across the tracks. Each number hits the spot; each song is beautifully crafted to add both depth and colour to the emotional patchwork sketched by Shelley's words. You quickly get the feeling that Shelley knows her subject matter well and writes from the heart and from experience. All of the songs are beautifully sung. The album should be kept close to the door because, in the event of fire or some other emergency, you will not want to leave home without it. Since it was produced in 2004 a second album from Shelley is probably due around now, but she's gonna have to work hard to better "Storyteller"! Full marks, Shelley: as your first album, "Storyteller" has set a very high standard indeed. Such talent is positively indecent, but I love it. More please...!
