New to Shpongle?

oktyabr

This was the first Shpongle album I ever heard and now that I have them all this is still my favorite! Like all Shpongle albums this one is meant to be listened to from the start to the finish... many songs fade into each other so a "shuffle" setting might not be the best. Be sure to listen to the samples... try Levitation Nation, Nothing Lasts, The Nebbish Route, and last but not least Falling Awake to get a feel for the vast sonic terrain this album covers. There isn't a dull track amongst them and 20 track price makes this album on emusic a steal! A great introduction to this unique, electronica sound. If you like this one be sure to check out the rest of the available albums as well.

Whoever says this album is a step backwards has a broken head. End of debate.

sounds good

Good music split into more tracks than their previous albums. Of you liked their previous releases then you should not be disappointed with this one. Download the whole thing and listen to it as one body of music.

Beautiful

I am really enjoying this download. You can rely on Shpongle to produce something that bit different. Only gave it 4 stars because of the splitting of tracks which disrupts the flow and spoils the effect. It is really obvious in places.

Clever Shpongle

Well made point Bamboo Girl, the way we listen to music is changing. ALSO When I play this album on my MP3 player, because the tracks are so short, it takes little time to load up the next song, so that the break between each song is so negligable that it sounds almost like its flowing like a normal CD! Its a tricky way to make some money on these MP3 sites though, double the amount of tracks on the album. But the music itself? Well worth it. If you've got no idea who Shpongle is, then take a chance and try them out. Top of their game.

Superb.

Truly outstanding. This CD takes you on an incredible journey...from our roots to our future, evokes a full range of emotions...it felt more organic than previous Shpongle releases. I danced, I laughed, I cried...heady stuff. Make no mistake, this music is created for a psychedelic experience and is exquisitely crafted.

A Trip..

bamboogirl

Isn't that what music is all about? With the advent of Itunes and other mp3 players, computer music, we have lost the art of listening to an album all the way through and flick randomly through individual tracks. My first feelings were that this album is pretty mediocre by Sphongle standards (but pretty good compared to other artists). However, I let Itunes play on one evening and suddenly realised just how awesome this album really is. Then, I really couldn't help myself, I listened all the way through again. Guys, this album has few great standalone tracks but experienced as a whole.. Wow, what a trip. Shpongled all the way - literally, prepare for the journey of your life

Simply Not Up To Par

This album was a disappointment to me. I loved both the earlier Shpongle albums, and couldn't wait for the release of their next album. But instead of something that developed the Shpongle sound further, we got this, which is a step backwards. All but gone is the flutework of Raja Ram, whose ethereal melodies formed the backbone of so much of Shpongle's earlier work. In the place of the master flautist is a trebly electric-guitar-like synth, prominent in many songs, and a poor substitute. Don't get me wrong; there are some cool tracks on "Nothing Lasts." But they are no more than cool. Shpongle in the past created magic and beauty; this new effort is merely passable. If you know Shpongle already, this is probably worth the download. Otherwise, start with "Are you Shpongled?". Incidentally, I was exposed to Shpongle through a friend’s mp3 collection. I liked the mp3s so much that I bought the CDs. I would not, however, buy the CD version of this album.
