The superior versions of both of these songs are on the excellent Pony Express Record (which you'll probably have to find used on amazon); "Hit Liquor" in particular feels a little stiff and lacking in energy compared to the album version. Still, this works as a decent sampler if you haven't heard Pony Express Record, and if you have, it's kind of an interesting glimpse at what the album might have sounded like if they hadn't jumped to a major label.

must get Pony Express Record

Xana

These songs are a good introduction to their massive album Pony Express Record, which you must get just for the song Chakka. The band crafts very proggy stuff on this effort, and the deft production by Andy Wallace really highlights the contributions of all the musicians without making the complexity sound like mush. Challenging; like the previous reviewer, I'd say these compositions grow on you, but you don't need to favor any particular genre to appreciate this music.

It will grow on you

This strangely and exquisitely beautiful music will surely grow on you after each listening. Going beyond punk and incorporating pop/rock inflexions, Shudder To Think couldn't have a more appropriate name for a band with such a different approach to music. In a word: brilliant.
