The Slaves’ Devil’s Pleasures CD combines the six-song EP of the same name with the group’s self-titled debut EP, resulting in nine dark, brooding songs like “An Exact Seance,” “Honeycomb Communique,” “Slender Spires,” and “Chemical Priests.” Though the goth and punk elements of the Slaves’ former group, VSS, remain, Devil’s Pleasures is a more melodic, accessible interpretation of their musical vision. – Heather Phares
