It grows and grows

Verdunguy

The songwriting here is superb. I'm not a southern rock fan (quite the opposite), and yet, this one draws me back more and more often. Every time I listen to it, I come away with something new. This band is that good. Check out "lumberlung".

roots rock done right

SelfRisinMojo

the perfect combination of their 1st and 2nd releases; you can feel the energy in the rootsy organic tunes as well as the straight ahead rockers and when the two play together it gives you a sense that their might be some hope for the genre yet. This isn't "alt country" or "country rock" this is rock and roll with a firm grip and healthy understanding of it's roots.

Miss them

While they are the 'Drams' now, this album is great. Everyone rambles on about 'gimme back my dog' but its not the best song on the album- listen to 'Bright eyes darkened' or 'pinball' and you'll hear what it is all about- Brent Best is one of the 'best' song writers around....

Sweet & twangy

BT-G

Great, southern guitar chops and and the perfect vocal drawl highlight the interesting song-writing here. If you like Drive-By Truckers, Son Volt, or, WTF, Lynard Skynard, you will enjoy Slobberbone.

Slobberbone's Template for a great album

RayC

Slobberbone hits the chords of life right on the downbeat. "Gimme Back My Dog" tells an all too real tale of relationship immasculation, "Trust Jesus" meets my criteria for a hymn and "Bright Eyes Darkened" is a realistic view of aging youth, romance and dreams lived and lost.

Great Rock/Country Album

Geeked

This music has the right amount of rock and country mix. I have become a rabid alt country fan over the last 6 months and this album would make my top 10.

A wonderful album all in all. I especially recommend "Lumberlung," "Pinball Song,"Lazy Guy," and "Some New Town."

They Say All Music Guide

“We are a rock band, pure and simple,” says gravelly-voiced lead singer Brent Best, but as this third release from the Texas-based outfit makes clear it isn’t so simple after all. The group have staked out a rather original space somewhere between country and punk rock, and they’ve filled it with quirky characters, memorable stories, and high-octane music that refuses to be pinned down and categorized. The instrumentation ranges from fiddle and mandolin to accordion and tuba; the sound is sometimes folk-country delicate, sometimes frenzied hard rock, though it leans more to the latter than the former. As for the lyrics, Slobberbone’s ideas occasionally run out before a track ends, but they’re generally dark and/or funny, and more than a little twisted. This release finds them expanding their horizons from drunks and losers, which is not to say they’ve abandoned those subjects. There are songs here about everything from obsessive love (“Josephine”) to the end of the world (“Meltdown”) to a Bible-toting traveling salesman (“Trust Jesus”). – Jeff Burger
