a good time

Music-Master

This is a great album to blast while you are speeding down the highway or if you are looking for an adrenaline rush. It's not that there is anything original about it but it just really works for me. Other then the slowed down acoustic track 11, every song is great. This is convenient because you can eject the disc after song 10 (or in this case just download the first 10). Musically they are similar to Jawbox & Jawbreaker. The vocals remind me of Mike Ness (social distortion). Highly recommended!

Slowride’s full-length debut, As I Survive the Suicide Bomber, showcases the band’s penchant for ’90s-style indie pop-punk, recalling Jawbreaker and the Foo Fighters, Slowride combines the raw, wounded-heart emotion of the former with the anthemic pop sensibilities of the latter. The songs bristle along at giddily breathless tempos, and boast sugary melodies that only partially obscure the melancholy nature of the lyrics. This is powerfully captured by producer Ed Rose (Get Up Kids, Appleseed Cast). – Andy Hinds
