One of the Best from Sly & Robbie
This incredible selection from 1981 offers up dread-filled dub versions of late1970s early '80s reggae tunes by some of the best vocalists to be produced by the "riddim twins." The the artist's tunes included here are JUNIOR DELGADO, IJAMAN, BLACK UHURU, WAILING SOULS, THE VICEROYS, THE PARAGONS, & BURNING SPEAR. Little remains of the original tunes but the occasional ghost of a melody, or vocal dropping in and out of the mix. These beautiful songs were mixed at a time when Sly & Robbie were starting to use more electronic sounds for color and effect however, traditional drums keeping time with a four on the floor rhythm and bass drenched in sound processing effects such as echo and reverb are still the dominant enhancer. This all mixes together to create an album which is as ageless now as the day each track was created. The other album by Sly & Robbie that's in a similar vein and equally choice is a 1985 release, A DUB EXPERIENCE. The 2 go together like rasta and Red Stripe.
