Here’s a stunning album from a member of the famous Amazones de Guine, singing mostly her own compositions here. Like the other Amazones offshoots, this is very different from the band itself: it’s fairly traditional in tone, with the delicate richness of three guitars — one of whom is played by her brother Sekou, the famous lead guitarist of Bembeya National Jazz, no less. – John Storm Roberts
