a welcome return...
...while there were definite highlights from glen galaxy's hip hop leanings (see "1957"), the celebrated sloppy yet tight noise rock of the early soul-junk records returns with "1959". what sets apart the new from the old is a sense of calm & purpose. those early records ("1950" - "1954") seemed bent on brashly pronouncing scripture. this "concept" record (the 1st 23 psalms) has a more refined quality in both instrument choice & overall composition.
