Sparklehorse Didn't Disappoint...

penylain67

If you really get Mark Linkous, the release of this album should have been as blissful of an occasion for you as I recall it was for me. Impending releases by fave artists always have heavy expectations placed by the maniacal few that live and breathe between the pages of the CD liner notes. "Good Morning Spider" was an album stunningly good overall but with some filler. The follow-up, "It's A Wonderful Life," succeeded with its samey sheen and consistent quality but lacked the peaks of its predecessor. "Dreamt For Light Years" succeeds in coalescing the two albums in large part. The presence of the masterful Danger Mouse at the helm no doubt had much to do with this. This collaborative spirit was extended with appearances by Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips as well as producer Dave Fridmann supplying instrumentation. It doesn't take repeated listens for these tracks to win you over. Check out the jaded beauty of "Getting It Wrong," a standout piece.
