Never Mind What "They" Say

BuckySinister

To offer a different take on what the All Music Guide says above... The tension between Jim Stanley and the Sex Pistols is what makes Split Lip Rayfield work. Resolving that tension would only result in... Well, I'm not sure what it would result in, honestly. But I bet it wouldn't be as good.

They Say All Music Guide

In their attempt to find a common ground between the Stanley Brothers and the Sex Pistols, Split Lip Rayfield comes up with a kind of bluegrass-punk sound more gimmicky than it is anything else; still, the album holds promise, and if the group can discover a way to integrate their diverse influences more organically, then they just might be onto something here. – Jason Ankeny
