acrobatastic88

watch out for the track listings. this album has some heat, and although there's dope artists, not all of them come with their A-game.

They Say All Music Guide

The Lawrence, MA native known as Statik Selektah has made a name for himself as one of the most capable next-generation East Coast producer/DJs with his numerous mixtapes and compilation albums featuring all-star MCs over his boom-bap-inspired beats. Much like his two previous efforts, 100 Proof: The Hangover is a thoroughly enjoyable listen largely due to its choice (and lengthy) guest list. From seasoned East Coast veterans (Kool G Rap, M.O.P., Smif-N-Wessun, Havoc) to underground favorites (Talib Kweli, Consequence, Evidence), acclaimed up-and-coming lyricists (Wale, Torae), fellow Massachusetts representatives (Reks, Termanology, Masspike Miles), and even Dirty South rhymers (Bun B, Rapper Big Pooh), none of rappers on hand are phoning it in. The mix-and-match posse cuts are intriguing, Statik Selektah’s Premier-esque scratched-up hooks recall plenty of classics from rap’s yesteryear, and there are more than enough certified bangers included here to make 100 Proof a treat for any nostalgic hip-hop purist. – Matt Rinaldi
