Just saw em live- rare reunion show- one of the best shows I have ever seen. What more can I say- these guys are LEGENDS! Buy Miracle now.
STBT made some off the best punk rock 'n roll music ever to be put on vinyl. awesome lyrics, riffs that poke like rusty barbwire, a backbeat that sounds like the drummer's balls are on fire, killer movie samples....yo, dese guys here were the real deal and the 90's music 'scene'was better for it. This album and all the rest (Tulip, Lurch/Butterfly Love, etc)sound the best after many shots o' Jim Beam. Whiskey, kid. Learn about it. Embrace it. Go to a show after drinking it. Fuck after drinking it. Drink whiskey, put Steel Pole Bath Tub on very loud and have rough sex with your girlfriend/boyfriend,and see if it ain't life affirming...
This was the best album Steel Pole Bathtub put out. I take back my comment about not liking their other releases. It was their record for Slash, who STBT had extreme creative control problems with, which left me flat. Another post-nirvana signing disaster. Miracle was some great sound. It came out around the time when Amphetamine/Reptile was releasing great hard stuff and SPBT fit right along side. The samples seem a little dated now but as a whole the album rocks. ...and I have to agree, their version of "Down All the Days" is one of the best Pogues cover ever.
I think a lot of people forgot about bands like Steel Pole. Kind of Big Black influenced with not being as droney. Miracle of Sound in Motion is absolutely fantastic and should not be forgotten. Train to Miami is one of my all time favorite tracks and their cover of the Pogues' "Down All The Days" is probably the best Pogues covers ever. Good SPBT starter album.
