Crisp, Comfortable "John Gorka-esk" Folk
A thoroughly enjoyable release. Maybe Mr. Fearing isn't entirely original, but his music is uniquely satisfying. Mr. Fearing embodies John Gorka's emotional voice and propulsive musical style...but definitely his own personality, not a clone. Stephen's phrasing is very clean. His ideas crisp. Accurate fretwork and finger-picking punch in "Gorka-esk" melodic lines. Songs = emotional, not muddled...with smoothly delivered humor. Standouts: 4. "Wailling Wall," 8. Anything You Want," 9. "When My Baby Calls" (s hint of Eric Taylor). Songs 1 through 11 are a "comfortable armchair" of a show. BUT!! Some samples are too short to get a really good taste. Still very recommended.
