The best album Genesis never made
Recorded while Hackett was still with Genesis, and shortly after Peter Gabriel had left the group, 'Voyage' is probably best known for the hyperactive opening track "Ace of Wands" and for Phil Collins' guest vocals on "Star of Sirius" - the latter of which undoubtedly went a long way toward the Genesis drummer also winning the full-time lead vocalist gig. (Another bandmate, Tony Banks, also has keyboard credits on this album.) But the balance of the album offers the first glimpses of Hackett's expanding range as a songwriter, and (albeit in retrospect) the first signs that Hackett, like Gabriel before him, would soon be on the outs with his more pop-minded Genesis bandmates.
