"Babe" by Styx

LFM56

I was twenty two and she was eighteen and yes it was the first time (as an adult) I had ever had an serious crush on a girl. It was during the tail end period of disco..yes disco. I walked into this club; very crowded; full of smoke. The music system in this club was second to none, bright rich and dynamic. As I took my seat the DJ faded from "Another one bites the Dust" to "Babe". The intro to that song is just perfect, I was thinking, as couples raced to the dance floor, the light slowly came up. As the lyrics began the mirrored ball was doing its thing and there she was dancing directly in front of me.. yes it was Linda, slow dancing with a guy, not her guy, just a guy. Her real guy was in the navy, so seeing this did not hurt so bad. The crowed dance floor made it impossible from them to move too far from me. That might have been my favorite dance until LeAnn, and a different song. "Babe"... the best thing to come out of the disco era, without a doubt.

I love the music but had some trouble when I tried to make a cd.It put so much space between songs that, not only was it anoying, but I had to use two cds to fit the all the music on.

It's an epic battle of good vs.… more »

They Say All Music Guide

Replacing the band’s volume in A&M’s Classics series, Greatest Hits collects all Styx’s major chart and radio hits, from “Lady” to “Show Me the Way.” Although they were a definitive album-oriented rock band, creating records that were meant to be listened to as a whole, their finest moments were always their singles, making Greatest Hits the only Styx disc many fans will need to own. – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
