A Happy Ending

Smokeorange

I have a scratchy, mangled bootleg tape of these songs done live 14 years ago. Even through the noise, you could tell these were first-rate songs .. "Bathroom" is probably their all-time best one. And here they are, in clear pristine form, and the world needs them more than ever. Sometimes things work out.

WOW!

I have heard rumor about this CD but never thought it would be out! Way to go! Now, Beth, is time to get the band back together and get on the road! Come on!!!!

Worth the thirteen-year wait!

"Comet" is the never-released follow-up to the trio's magical "(We Get There When We Do.)," one of my very favorite albums of the '90s, and its appearance on eMusic is a complete shock (singer/songwriter Beth Sorrentino writes me, "we have waited a long time to have it be available"). It's a familiar (to fans) blend of organic, piano-driven pop, carried by Beth's wistful, hopeful vocals and gorgeous sense of melody. True, the songs aren't quite as memorable as the previous album's, but they're absolutely worth checking out ("Whole Lotta Girl" is my initial pick), especially if you try and like the 1995 release. "Comet" expands the band's instrumental palette a bit while keeping the same formula, and even the sadder songs make you smile.

I was not expecting to see THIS at all!

Finding this previously unreleased gem absolutely made my day. S,T! plays around with some new sounds, styles, and textures on this album. It's a great listen.
