Good mix of dirt and beauty

Bluepiano

What is it about Canadians and there ability to produce great music (Celine Dion and Bryan Adams not included, every nation has something to be embarassed about) This is a great mix of Arcade Fire and The Low anthem but they certainly have there own sound and style. Great musicians, songwriting, lyrics and vocals , this is definatly worth checking out. This reviewer cannot find fault with the album, I am off to download the other one as well.

"stomping on the line between breakdown and bliss"

flamgirlant

These Canadians started as a duo but have grown to three members. Hymn's For The Happy was originally released independently in 2006, but they've since signed with indie Baudelaire(CN)/Outside Music(US). Passionate vocals, fabulous energy, driving "thump thump thump" of a bass drum, trampy little basslines, picture-painting lyrics, tinny guitars, spastic tambourines and a solemn sounding xylophone all work together to make a folk chutney that goes well everything. Each track separately could add just the right zing to a mixtape but together make a delectable album that's teetering on the edge of complete breakdown. My faves:Pacifists Anthem, If the Creeks Don't Rise, The Detroit River is Alive, Talk It To Death
