Alt/Country Oklahoma Girl Sings of the Heartland
This is a winning album with everything from swooningly beautiful French version of the Bob Dylan classic "Girl From the North Country" to the Red- Dirt-Jazz of "On My Way"-- gypsy country??. Ms. Herndon has been lumped in with the Red Dirt genre but that pigeon holes this gifted Singer Songwriter-Okie-Gal too much. She does Alt/Country pop for now people-"At the End of the Day " and "Here in the Hearland (Big Dipper Song)" and straight up country, maybe with a hint of pachouli in "Once Burned Twice Shy". Her truest heart may lie in the more personal songs about family and Oklahoma: "Highway 33" and "Oklahoma Waters". All in all a beautifully sung alt. country folk, pop-rock album from the heartland. If "At the End of The Day" or Big Dipper Song doesn't make you wanna sing along and smile then you are too jaded for this stuff. She also will break your heart as well-- So get ready for a fine musical roller coaster of a ride. Mauve Dirt gals unite.
